FAQs - Relief's & Benefits

1. I am studying for a NVQ, my child is due in June. I’ve paid NI for two months, will I qualify for Working Families Tax Credit?
2. I have both a full-time and a part-time job - which one will my personal allowance be set against?
3. I received Jobseeker’s allowance before becoming self-employed. Do I need to declare this on my tax return?

1. Yes you will qualify for Working Families Tax Credit and you should also claim Children's Tax Credit.

2. Your personal allowance will be set against the job that you and your tax office regard as your main employment.

3. Yes, your regular jobseeker's allowance is taxable and must be shown under question 11 on your tax return. The DSS should issue you with a form P60U that shows your taxable income. You can ignore any jobfinder's grant, which is not taxable.
